Why You Should Go Ahead with Your Solar Plans in January 2018

Go Solar in 2018, Solar incentives 2018

It’s a wonderful time for celebrating the end of another year with friends and family. When the gifts are all given and the big dinner is consumed, a lot of minds turn toward the coming year and the big, awesome opportunities that it represents. Are you thinking that 2018 will be the year you go solar? Have you been doing your research, even lurking on our blog to learn more about Solar Five? If you’ve been thinking about going solar in 2018, but wondering if you should wait until the Spring when the weather gets sunny again, we have a few reasons why you should go ahead and get started in January. Winter is a fantastic time to pick up the phone and go solar. Here’s why:

Going Solar is a Process

We live in a world where there is an expectation of quick change and instant results after a person makes a decision. Unlike changing a utility like your cable or internet, changing over from traditional energy to solar energy is a process that takes a few weeks to complete. Because we are a Massachusetts company working exclusively in New England, we’re able to offer significantly faster service to our customers than some national companies that just so happen to have moved into the area. A call in January means you could have your system up and running in time for peak sunny weather in the Spring.

Why does it take so long to make the switch? Permitting and approvals from the state, town and financial institutions (if you choose to finance), means there is a lot of paperwork involved with making the switch. We also custom-build our systems so they are perfectly suited and tailor-made for your home or business.

Starting in the Spring Means You Miss Out on the Sun

It’s a fact of New England life: our sunlight is limited during the year. Our peak sunny days are during the Spring and the Summer, and those seasons present the best opportunity for you to start seeing significant savings on your energy bills. Because making the switch to solar is a multi-week process, we advise you to consider getting started in the Winter, when the sunlight is at its least, so you can have your panels up and operational just as the sunlight is starting to return for the longest days of the year!

Massachusetts Has Some of the Best Incentives Out There… For Now…

If you are a Massachusetts resident, you should know that the state has become one of the premiere solar energy markets thanks to an aggressive and extraordinary solar energy incentive known as Solar Renewable Energy Credits or SREC-II. On April 1st, 2018, SREC-II will turn into the Solar Mass Renewable Target Program (SMART), which will be a different program, with plenty of benefits for consumers, but possibly less benefit than what Massachusetts residents are receiving right now.

The bad news is that SREC-II is ending. The good news is that there is still time to lock into the incentive before it ends. Massachusetts residents must be signed up with a provider like Solar Five and have their solar panel system mechanically complete by March 31st to be able to take advantage of the SREC-II incentives. It’s not too late to get started if you are interested in taking advantage of these incentives before the program changes.

New Tariffs Could Make an Impact, Too

The Solar Energy industry is bracing for impact from a potential for new tariffs on solar panel materials in 2018. These tariffs could potentially significantly raise the cost of materials that solar energy companies like Solar Five use to custom-build panels for New England homes and, therefore, could potentially impact the cost of your system. A decision by the International Trade Commission and the President of the United States won’t come down until the end of January, and then everyone will have a clearer understanding of what will happen next. If you are interested in going solar, it might be wise not to wait so your system will avoid being caught up in the aftermath of whatever the decision may be.

Solar Five is Offering a $1,000 Rebate on Systems Purchased in January

Looking for one more reason to sign up and get started in January? Solar Five is offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus for solar panel systems started in January 2018! That means a savings on your year-long energy bills thanks to our efficient, stylish, and productive panel systems plus the added benefit of $1,000 bonus toward whatever you want or the system itself!

It’s the time to start planning for a new year and all the wonderful things it has in store. If you are a home or business owner and your resolution in 2018 is to “save more money” or “spend less on energy” or any variation as such, you really should take a serious look at solar energy and how Solar Five can help you reach your goals. Some things just shouldn’t wait until the Spring and, believe it or not, making the switch to solar is one of them. Making this smart decision in the Winter means a Spring, Summer and even Autumn of optimal production, which will save you on your energy cost and give you the peace of mind in knowing you took full advantage of the year. We look forward to showing you just how much you can save!

Setting your 2018 goals? Is going solar on your list? Now is the best time to give Solar Five a call and get started. State, Federal and in-house incentives are just what you need to make this environmental and budgetary decision that much easier. Give us a call today!
