Community Sourced Summer: What Solar Five Has Been up to This Summer

The team here at Solar Five hopes that you and your family enjoyed a wonderful summer. Does it feel good to be back in a normal routine? As your fellow neighbors here in Massachusetts, we’ve been out enjoying everything that a glorious New England summer has to offer: the beaches on the North and South Shores, hiking the Mountains up in New Hampshire, even kayaking some of the local water ways. We’ve also been hard at work to make a difference in the communities where we live and work by participating in a few important events and giving to causes that are important to us. We thought we’d take a minute to update you on what we’ve been up to. We hope you’ll join us in lending your support to these local organizations.

Vets & Veggies Cornhole Tournament

We started out our summer at Vets & Veggies’ 1st Annual Pig Roast and Cornhole Tournament in Athol, Massachusetts. The Solar Five team joined members of the community, volunteers, and veterans of the Armed Services for a beautiful day of lawn games, craft beers and excellent food. Vets & Veggies provides housing, education and support for veterans who are training to become sustainable farmers. Teaching techniques for small-scale sustainable farming, including planning crops, planting, integrated pest management and specialized harvesting techniques, Vets & Veggies helps veterans create local food systems for the residents of their community. We proudly sponsored the Pig Roast, and continue to be a sustaining partner of Vets & Veggies. If you would like to learn more about the program and what you can do to support, click here.

The 2017 Pet Rock Festival

If you happen to follow us on Facebook, you know that we were proud sponsors of the 2017 Pet Rock Festival on September 10th. The Pet Rock Festival brings pet lovers, shelters, animal advocacy and rescue organizations, and live music together in one fun place in celebration of our favorite furry friends. We were out there with fun goodies for people and pets alike, joining other local companies as a sponsor of the fun event. It was great taking pictures with all of those adorable furry buddies out there! We really hope that we made some new friends, and that we see some spiffy Solar Five bandannas on while we’re on our daily walks. As an additional boost to benefit the Pet Rock charities, we donated $10 for every homeowner who signed up for a free in-home energy audit during the event. It was fantastic to support a great cause while also listening to people talk about their energy usage and needs.

The upcoming Hastings Harvest 5k Walk/Run in Lexington, MA

Hastings Harvest

Because we are located in Lexington, the Hastings Harvest Walk/Run is near and dear to our hearts. The event directly benefits the Hastings Elementary School PTO, which supports teachers and students throughout the school year. It’s a pleasure to get out with family, get some exercise on a beautiful autumn day, and sponsor a great event that benefits the students in our home town. If you are going to be out there taking part in the event, we would love to see you! We’d like to give the PTO an extra boost, so please come talk to us about a free, no obligation solar assessment and energy audit. For every homeowner who signs up during the race, we’ll donate an extra $10 to the Hastings Elementary School PTO!

We care about solar panels and helping people make the switch to solar, it’s true. But we have said it time and again: we’re your neighbors. We live where you live. We’re a solar company that is home grown with hometown people who care. We strive to be good individual citizens and a good corporate citizen by giving our time and our money to great organizations that do important work in our communities. It’s been a fun and a busy summer thanks to these three organizations that mean a lot to us. We look forward to continuing to support them and expanding our reach to other organizations around the state and region.
